WILL DUTIES BE ALTERED?

Budget prospects are being anxiously discussed by wine traders. Some anticipate that Mr. Churchill will follow the example of the Irish Free State, and double the duties.
The Chancellor of the Exchequer has received a deputation on the subject of the Budget, and ho was extremely guarded in his replies. He gave no information about wine, but regarding the-spirit duty, he said it would not be right for him to use language calculated to encourage anticipation of any reduction. Distillers, however, are still hopeful, tho latest rumour being that the Chancellor is meditating the introduction of ,a graduated spirit duty.
