WATERSIDE DISPUTE
VESSELS HELD UP (By Teleirraph.—Press Association.) ' CHEISTCHUECH, 12th March. Tho hold-up yesterday of tho Canterbury Steam Ship Company's coastal steamers Gale and Breeze through tho watersiders refusing to accept employment on these vessels, still, continues. A call for labour at 8 o'clock this morning again met with no response. A meeting of the Disputes Committee was held at 9.30 a.m. for the purpose of-discussing the manning of tho two vessels, but no agreement was arrived at, as.it was understood that tho employers' representatives wore not disposed to comply with the provuras demands of the watorsiders and the allocation of six men to each hold instead of four. In the circumstances no call was made to-day for men to work the Orepuki and the Kainanga, which reached Lyttelton this morning from Tarakoho and Sydney respectively.
