RIVER BREAKS THROUGH
DELAY AT ARAPUNI WORKS (By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Pest.' 1) AUCKLANJ), This Day. A leakage in the foundations of the power house at the Arapuni hydro-electric works is still causing the contractors, Sir W. G. Armstrong, Witworth, Ltd., considerable concern. The leakage is through the boulders at the bottom, and for the third time the river has broken through. This has occasioned considerable delay in the operations. An attempt to stem the inflow of the water from the river is now being made by driving' steel piles to the rock foundation, behind which there will be a filling of concrete.
