THE WEATHER FORECAST

The weather has been fair to cloudy, with passing showers in -many parts of the country.- Cloudy and unsettled conditions have prevailed, with considerable rain, in the west coast and southern districts of the South- Island. The patchy nature of the rainfall is illustrated by falls locally. Kain fell at the Hutt on Saturday night about- 9 o'clock, and yesterday morning about i o'clock 27 points fell at the Thorndon Observatory. The barometer has been unsteady, rMng and falling over the ' Dominion, and. northwest to south-west winds have ruled.

The forecast issued to-day is for mild and hazy conditions,- cloudy to overcast at times, with further rain in the west coast and southern districts. The winds are likely to be moderate to strong and variable, with westerlies prevailing. The barometer is unsteady,- and is likely to rise and fall again everywhere shortly.
