FIRE IN CITY BUILDING
Fire severely damaged the furnishings and contents of a room occupied'by Sirs. F. Allen, dressmaker, on the first floor of Messrs. F. C. Badford and Co.'s furnish, ing warehouse at > 206) Lambton quay, shortly after 3 o'clock yesterday morning. The fire, the origin of which is not known,' broke out in the ceiling of the ground floor, directly underneath Mrs. Allen's room, the contents of which were insured for £300 in the Phoenix Office. The building itself is insured for £4000 in the Norwich Union Office, and for £2000 in the London and Lancashire Office, while Messrs. Radford and Co.'s stock is covered by a policy of £1000 in the latter office* Considerable damage to the contents of the Warehouse was averted by the use of the fire brigade's recently acquired tarpaulins.
