BLOOD STOCK SALES

Mr. J. A. Taylor, of Wellington, has decided to dispose of his team in training. That good horse Treshain, who won twelve races for Mr. Taylor as a two, three,' and four year old, has been in work at Ellersho for tho past four weeks. Ho is going along nicely and is down to make his reappearance in the Ohincmuri Cup. In addition to Tresham Mr. Taylor has the tvo-year-olds Chips, who won both of the races confined to his age at the Waikato Meeting, and the Paiadin-Lovelorn gelding to dispose of. So far the latter horse has not been seriously tried, although he is said to be a very promising colt. Like the other Paladins he gives the appearance of being a horse that wants time, but being from the same dam as Nomes, Menelaus, Lovematch, etc., this youngster should excite interest when he comes under the hammer with the balance o£ Mr. Taylor's team at the Trentham sales on ISth March. Should Tresham change hands his new owner- will be able to look forward to racing this successful campaigner over hurdles, as he has already proven himself to be a natural jumper. Tresham has been spelling since his last appearance in the Alison Cup at Takapuna. Prior to that he dead-heated for second with Eden Hall in the W,aikato Cup. Mr. Taylor is bringing his team down from Ellerslie for the sales and they will be on view at his Trentham stables.

A Leighton two-year-old coming forward from Hawkes Bay is Mr. P. Ormond's gelding Wreath of Myrtle, from the King Mark mare Europa. Among the brood mares to be disposed of "at the March sales is the San Francisco mare Commerce, owned by Mr. 0. S. Watkins. Commerce is a descendant of that great imported mare Mermaid, which has contributed so many valuable descendants to the Turf in New Zealand. Of the progeny of Commerce that have raced Royal Exchange was the best. This mare has also proved a valuable matron for Mr. George Currie, and a colt out of her! by Thespian realised 350 guineas at the recent Trentham sales. Royal Lineage is another of her sons, but is by Liniond. Mr. Watkins also has a filly in work from Commerce. This is tho two-yearoli i Bourse, who is working well at Trentham just now. Commerce did not seem to nick with Absurd, to whom'she was mated in three successive seasons, but both she and Royal Exchange appear as if they will be much better suited with Limond for a mate. Mr. J.. P. Buchanan, who also owns a daughter of Commerce, is returning this mare to Limond next season. Commerce herself is to be disposed of at the Bale with her Limond filly foal at foot, and she is again in foal to the same sire. Mr. John Donald, the Westmere studmaster, who has been acquiring English brood marei, proposes to dispose of some of his New Zealand-bred matrons, and will offer at the sales the. Martian mare Marceline. A two-year-old filly out of Marcelme was recently disposed of to an Australian buyer. Marceline has a filly foal this year by Chief Ruler, and she is again in foal to this imported sire. Her dam is the Graf ton mare Truce, which in her day defeated Master Delaval and a number of other good horses in the Wanganui Cup when that event was contested over a distance .of one mile and three-quarters. Truce was also the dam of Ceaso Fire,
