THE ROYAL VISIT
(To tha Editorj Sir,—May I suggest to the authorities iacharge of the arrangements to welcome to Wellington Their Royal Highness tha Duke and Duchess of York the advis* bility of taking steps to prevent a dig. appointment similar to that experienced by the majority of the loyal citizens ol x Jalmerston North. When the Royal vis. ltors motored round the Square the cno* mous crowds pressing around their car con* pletely obscured it and its occupants front the view of all except the few in immed* ate contact. When the Prince of Wales visited -Wellington some years ago he occupied an elevated position in his parade through the city, and the crowd was kept back, with the result that everyone present^ who wished to see the future King o£ England had iiq difficulty in doing so. It is to be hoped that when his brother honours the city with a visit things will be so arranged that the . mistake which rather marred the pleasure at Pahncrston North for most people, except those who were willing to push, will not be repeated at the expense of the citizens and visitors in Wellington.--! am, etc.,
