RECENT MEETINGS.

There was a grand attendance at the monthly mooting of the Port Nicholson Encampment No. 6, 1.0.0. F., Bro. H. Dames, P.G.C.P., presiding. One member was advanced to the G.R. degree. Arrangements were made to make an officiai visit to Wildey Lodge, No. 107, and for admission at an early date of lurcher country members. Information was received that members in the Kangitikei district had organised the necessary Charter Petition to the Grand Lodge of Australasia for the institution of an encampment there. Bro. W. Broadley, P.G.K., Christchurch, conveyed greetings from North Canterbury Encampment No 2. The evening was concluded with a "500' tournament between teams captained by the C.P. and 1.W., the former winning. I At the fortnightly meeting of Waiwhetu Lodge, No. 136, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., Trentham, Bro. R. H. Charles, N.G., presided. After routine business had been disposed of, including the nomination of one candidate, a very pleasant social evening was held, with dancing, items, community singing, and supper. Opportunity was taken to complete a charter petition for the in-I stitution of a ladies' (Rebekah) lodge at Trentham, which will make the seventh Rebekah branch and twenty-first adult lodge in the district. A meeting was fixed for the following week to make arrangements for opening on receipt of the Grand Master's dispensation. Sister E. M'Ginnity, P.N.G., presided over the fortnightly meeting of Esther Rebekah Lodge No. 30, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., Brooklyn, • there being a good attendance of members and visitors. The usual business was conducted, and arrangements were made for a social evening. Wildey Lodge No. 107, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., Island Bay, had a very good attendance at its fortnightly meeting, Bro. E. M'Donnell, N.G., presiding, visitors including Bro. J. H. West, P.G., District DegreeMaster, and Bro. F. Reilly, P.G., William Gane Lodge, No. 5. Two members were reported sick, and one candidate was nominated. Arrangements were completed for a social evening nest meeting, when a mock breach of promise trial will be conducted. The fortnightly meeting of Maraenui Lodge No. 124, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., Miramar, Bro. C. R. Butler, N.G., presiding, was largely attended, visitors including Bros. H. Dames, D.D.G.M., and F. J Jones, P.G., District Treasurer, and Bro. H. C. Rule, N.G., and officers of Heretaunga Lodge, No. 115, Petone, on an' official visit. One member was reported sick, four candidates were initiated, and a further candidate was nominated. Bro. W. J. Jarvis, N.G., presided over the fortnightly meeting of Southern Cross Lodge, No. 24, 1.0.0. F., N.Z. Sick reports were presented, six candidates were initiated, and two further candidates were nominated. Invitations were accepted to social functions of several kindred lodges. There was a very large attendance at the fortnightly meeting of Victoria Rebekah Lodge, No. 2, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., Newtown, Sister W. Jorgenson, N.G., presiding, visitors including Sister E. Wheeler, P.N.G., and officers of Rose of Wellington jitebekab Lodge, Sister E. Phillips, N.G., and officers of Rahiri Rebekah

Lodge, and Bro. E. M'Donnell, N.G., and I o&cers of Wildey Lodge on official visits. Essential business having been disposed or, a most enjoyable social evening was spent, with dancing and competitions. Bro. E. D. Wallis, P.G., and Mr. W. Jorgenson provided the music. Approval of charter petition having been accorded, a meeting was held in St John's Hall, Trentham. last Monday evening, to make arrangements for the institution of a. ladies' branch of the 1.0.0. F., X.&., at Trentham. The new lodge, being the seventh Rebekah branch in this district will be called The Lily of the Valley Rebekah.Lodge, and will be instituted VL am?J c form on Saturday afternoon, IZth March, by the Grand Master for New Zealand (Bro. D. Roy Cooper, Auckland). Other grand executive officers, and district representatives, en route to Grand Lodge Session at Christchurch. will also be present. The initiation of the foundation members and installation oi first officers of the lodge will be conducted by the Lady D.D.G.M. (Sister E Maley P.N.G.) and local Rebekah officers. Lha charter members were selected, executive officers, trustees, and auditors were elected, and a committee was appointed to mata arrangements for reception and entertainment of the visiting ofaeers and members. Tne quarterly summoned meeting of the Loyal Combination Lodge of Oddfellows Manchester Unity, was held at Johnsonville, and was presided over by Bro. A E. Cook, N.G. Bro. W. K. Taplin, P.G . was elected as a delegate to attend the meetings of the United Friendly Societies' Council. Bro. R. Cook, F.S., was nominated for the position of district secretary, the election to take place at the district conference in Levin Bro. F. Milne, P.G., of the Loyal Coleridge Lodge, was received as a visitor, and the N.G. extended a welcome, which included lodge honours. Receipts for the evening amounted to £42 10s 6d, while the accounts passed for payment were £30 11s 6d. On the lodge closing, dancing and a musical programme was carried out. Supper' was also provided.
