NEW AWARD WANTED IN

SYDNEY, This Day. Ihe Graziers' Association has served claims upon the Australian Workers' Union for general decreases in the wage,, of employees in the pastoral industry. The claims will form tha basis for securing a new Federal pasitoral award, which will then bo binding upon all members of the association. Every endeavour will be made tc have the claims dealt with before the general shearing season coinmencea. The Australian Workers' Union strongly opposes the eJaims. The secretary stated that it was apparently framed itt order to cause trouble in the industry, as the object seenis to bo in applying for a Federal award to break down the' preference clauses obtained by the union in the State Courts.

HOSPITAL LOTTERIES

TO RAISE MONEY IN NEW

SOUTH WALES

SYDNEY, This Day: The New South Wales Ministry has" agreed on n scheme for financing hospitals. It is proposed to give the Government power in a Hospitals Bill to conduct lotteries, and these -will probably be on tho lines of a Bcheme now operating by tho Queensland Government. Further provision will bo made by way of industrial contributions towards the upkeep of hospltalg, employees taxing themselves by allowing a reduction from their weekly wages Ihe Bill will make it compulsory for employers and employees to contribute to the financing of these institution*. The Bill will be introduced into th# Assembly next week.
