CIVIC LEAGUE
MEETING OF COUNCIL
The council of the Wellington Civic League met on Thursday evening, the president (Mr. J. H. Whittaker) presiding over a good attendance of members.
Officers were elected, in addition to those elected at the annual meeting:—-President, Mr. J. 11. Whittaker; vice-presidents, Messrs. Alex. Macintosh, Thomas Gray, F. W. Downs, and J. W. Burgoyne-Thom-as; executive committee, Mesdames E. J. Moore and K. Preston, Messrs. A. C. Blake, W. A. Andrews, S. E. Lambert, Phil. Myers, F. W. Moore, J. Meltzer, Ad. Howitt, and M. S. Galloway; general ■secretary and treasurer, Mr. D. M'Laren; assistant secretary, Mr. B. C. Cull. It was announced that the last day of enrolment for the municipal roll. is 31st March, the election day being 27th A.pril. It was considered that a poll on the "rating system" would no doubt bo taken at the general poll, and a sub-com-mittee was appointed consisting of Messrs. 1. Gray, F. W. Downs, and F. W. Moore to go into the question thoroughly and report at the next meeting, when' it is aiiticipatod Vi that information of general interest to citizens will be available. -
