Merchants are reported to be well stocked up in French brandies in both bulk and case goods in the lesser known marks. A.L ajiesult new business is said to be dimcuW to obtain. Advantage was taken to deal protty heavily in brandy while the franc was low. A good, deal of French wine, too, still and sparkling,.was imported, at the same time, and for the same reason not much in future is. likely to come _to New Zealand: when these accumulations of wines are disposed of; as not only has the franc substantially improved, but the vintage has been poor, enhancing the -value of the wine in France itself.
