AMATEUR ATHLETICS

N.Z. CHAMPIONSHIPS

Matters in connection with the New Zealand championships to be held at Auckland on Friday and Saturday next were dealt with at the monthly meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association last evening. Mr. €r. H. Lusk presided.

The Auckland Centre advised that a number of_ events would be decided on Fri«day to suit the -wishes of Southern competitors. There would, however, be no charge for admission to the Domain on that day, as the time had passed for the statutory advertising of the notice to levy the same.

A draft programme for the two days was received from the Auckland Centre. After consideration had been given to the order in which the events were set down, it was decided to suggest the adoption of th following programme:—Friday: 880 yds cycle championship heats, 100 yds championship heats, pole vault championship, 120 yds ladies' handicap, 120 yds hurdles championship heats, 880 yds cycle handicap heats, one mile cyclo championship heats, 220 yds championship heats, putting the shot championship, three miles championship, broad jump championship, two miles cycle ht%-.dicap heats, three miles cycle championship heats. The first event is to commence at 2.30 p.m. Saturday: 880 yds cycle championship final, 100 yds championship final, three miles walking championship, high jump championship, 880 yds championship, 440 yds hurdles championship^ 100 yds handicap heats, 880 yds cycle handicap final, one mile cycle championship final, throwing , the hammer championship, 100 yds ladies' championship, 220 yds championship final, 880 yds handicap, one ymile walking championship, throwing the 'javelin championship, 120 yds hurdles championship final, one mile championship, 100 yds handicap final, 440 yds championship, hop, step, and jump championship, _ 440 yds ladies' relay, two miles cycle handicap final, throwing the discus championship three miles cycle championship final, 75yds ladies' invitation race, one mile championship relay. The first event is to start at 1.45 p.m.
