HELEN GARDNER RECITAL.
Miss .Helen,Gard'ner's excellent dramatic recital 'was repeated, again in the Concert Chamber last evening to a delighted audience. "The Lady of- Fortingale" was by fur the best-item, and in it.work of a very. high standard was done bys-Miss Bessie Thompson: (Dunedin), Miss May M'Donald, and Miss Thyra Baldwin. -"Hippolytus" gave Miss Mary. Copley plenty scope for her undoubted dramatic .talent, and she showed her versatility by- taking a lighter part in ""Op-o'-Me Thumb," in which -Miss Edna Purdie took the part of Amanda. ' Other' sketches included the comic one, "At. the Polling.. Booth," '■Billy,"' aud a very forceful scene from "Anthony and 'Cleopatra," in which Miss Bessie' Thompson gave a splendid rendering of her part as the Egyptian Queen. Miss Hilda Chudley was a sympathetic accompanist. ■ ■■ '
