Major-General B. Young, G.0.C., N.Z. Forces, rbturned to Wellington from Auckland by yesterday's Limited.
James Carlaw, chairman of the Auckland Military' Sports Association, is at present on a holiday visit to Wellington. Mr. Carlaw was for many years waterworks engineer for the city of Auckland, and recently retired.
G. A. Clark, who has retired from -he position of manager of the North End branch of the Bank of New Zealand ■ after a service of forty-three years, yesterday received a presentation from a number of the bank?s clients. The presentation was made by Mr. B Egley, who referred to Mr. Clark's many .fine qualities, both from a business and a personal point of v 1 w. MiClark suitably replied. Mr. Clark has also received presentations from the staff of the bank and from the Treasury and Eailway Departments. Mr. A. M. Thompson, of Gisborne, will succeed Mr. Clark. ■
