WONDERFUL RESPONSE
Already. there has been such a wonderful response'for assistance' in the Boyal Visit Plunke't Karitane Appeal Fund that the organiser (Mr. John E. Winsloe) "will extend the campaign to the Wairarapa district, and as soon as Sir Truby,King returns from Dunedih visits will be paid to Carterton, Masterton, Featherston, and Martinborough. About 900 ladies have already promised to help in raising the & 20,000 which is the women's share of the total (£50,000). "And the best part _of it is," said Mr. Winsloe this morning, "that these ladies are going to be interested in Karitane long after the campaign is finished. It will leave the Plunket Sooi.ety with a great many more interested helpers." \ The directors of the Eo'tary Club decided last night to be responsible for the major portion of the men's share in the campaign (£30,000), subject to confirmation by the club at its luncheon next Tuesday. Areas such as Petdne and Lower Hutt are also proving enthusiastic supporters of the ifppeal, and meetings will be held in those areas on Tuesday, so that all indications are for a successful campaign, will leave the new home at Melrose free of debt" and liberally endowed when Their Eoyal Hiehnesses arrive in March . :
