CHANGE IN THE WEATHER

As anticipated in yesterday's meteorological forecast, the skies have begun to cloud over. Conditions are threatening, although the barometer has risen in the north, and lias shown little movement in the south. In the immediate future warm and sultry weather is forecasted, the increasing haze and cloudiness heralding a •change which will be felt first on the West Coast of the South Island. The barometer is expected to fall, and the winds from the west increase in force.

One first offender for drunkenness was fined 10s, the amount of his bail, by Mr. G. Fownes, J.P., in the Mount Cook Police Court to-day.
