GALE IN VICTORIA
MOTOR CYCLIST KILLED
(United Press Association.—Copyright.) MELBOURNE, 3rd February. Much minor damage was done by the gale, which reached a velocity of 58 miles an hour. Telegraphic communication with various districts has been interrupted. At Geelong a man riding a motor bicycle, momentarily blinded by the storm, crashed into an electric light standard and was killed. During the height of the gale a rocket was seen at sea off Queen's Cliff. The ship which was in distress and sent up rockets was the Helen Moore, which was returning from New. Zealand. The vessel had just entered the channel when she was caught by the gale, and she w;is soon in. difficulties. As the wind continued strong and the "- crew were exhausted, it was decided to call for help. The Queen's Cliff lighthouse sent o>» a lifeboat, which stood by the vessel till daylight.
