BANE OP POLITICS
ADVICE TO UNEMPLOYED
(By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post.")
CHRISTCHURCH, This Day.A plain hint to the unemployed to dissociate themselves from political agitators was given by the Mayor, the ■nev. j, Jx. Archer, to an unemployed deputation which waited on him yesterday. '
"I think," he said,, "that it is a great mistake to mix up the unemployment question -with political questions. As soon as political questions are introduced there is a division of feeling amongst the public, and it sometimes has a tendency to destroy sympathy. Let me say quite kindly but clearly that I think you are represented by the wrong tj^o of men to put your case before the .authorities. I can assure you that sometimes, the men who go to public bodies to put your case for relief mix it up : with so many politicals and debatable questions that prejudice is created. It is necessary for you to be represented by men who state your case fairly and reasonably, and . without passion."
