Canterbury, -who scored 148 in the first innings and lost two wickets for nineteen in the second innings s on the first day, continued their innings, and were dismissed for 48 (Talbat 11, Hamilton not out 15). M/Beath took six wickets for 18, and Herdman three for 21. Requiring 91 runs to win, South Canterbury were dismissed for 71 (M'Beath 23). Cunningham took bix wickets for 28; Talbot three for 27, Nixon one for 4. Canterbury won by 20 runs.
