HAWKE CUP MATCH

NEW PLYMOUTH, 3rd February. When stumps were drawn at the end of the first day's play in" the Hawke Cup' match between Taranaki and Poverty Bay honours were fairly even between the teams with perhaps a slight advantage to the challengers. The visitors had the first knock, the innings producing 117. Tairanaki were disposed of for twelve short; of their opponents' total, and when stumps were drawn for the day, Poverty Bay had lost two wickets for 19 runs.
