"ADVANCE CHECKS DEMAND."
The Bank of New Zealand, Produce Department, lias reecived the following advice from its London Office; under date 21st January:—"Frozen. Meat.—The advance in the quotations for wether mutton has checked the demand. The market is depressed for owes owing to absenec of demand. Prices for lamb are maintained with-difficulty. Wethers, light 6%d to 7d per lb, heavy 5%d to 6&d per lb; ewes, 394 dto 4%d per lb; lambs, 2's IOHd-tb lid per lb, B's 10% dto lid per lb, seconds 9y 2 d to lOd per lb, Australian 6%d to 9d per lb, Argentine 6d to 7d per lb."
