ISLAND BAY SURF CLUB.
The Island Bay Surf Club held a "hard-' up social in the Masonic Hall, Island Bay, on Wednesday night in aid of the Eastern Queen. The Hon. E. A. Wright wished the- Surf Club every success in its effort to raise funds to enlarge the clubhouse. He was convinced, that, with the increasing population of the district, and the increased support given to the club more accommodation was urgently necessary. The Minister then presented prizes to Miss M. Lennie arid Mr. V. Eeece Miss J. Collins (hard-up lady), and Mr! H. 'Skinner, (hard-up gentleman). The Eastern Queen presented a bouquet of flowers to Mr. Wright, to be handed over : to Mrs. Wright as an appreciation of esteem from the Eastern Committee. Dancing followed, the music being supplied by an orchestra under Mr.' A. .Dicker
