The Canadian Colonisation Depart meixt has definitely decided to cou«en» tratc settlement pji small holdings in. the next three years.
The disastrous experiment of »t----tempting to settle soldiers on the land without having previous e*per»enet shows that capital is essential if ordli* ary people are to.make farming a sw ceas an a.large scale.
A scheme is being worked out with the sanction of the British, Government whereby the British and Csnadia* GOvernments will each give : £ 100 to British families who settle on the Ifthd. Canada will give £'200 :t<J. Canadians living in the cities who start farming.
