"TOC H'S" BIRTHDAY
"Toe H," which holds its birthday service on Sunday afternoon in the: Terrace Congregational Church, is a strange nickname for a wonderful army, which, like all true movements, was born'and bred in sacrifice. The first Tulbot House opened in Poperinghe on 15th December, 1915. It was named after Gilbert Talbpt, lieutenant in the Rifle Brigade, who died at Hooghe on 30th July of that year. From the Christian Fellowship begun in the two Talbot Houses in the salient, among men of all ranks, haa since sprung a living society which has spread far and wide. Its membership is nn aristocracy of comradeship drawn from the schools, universities, offices, and factories. Its aims (confirmed by Royal Charter in 1922) are briefly the following:—(1) To challenge the younger men.of each generation with the .Christian ideal of brotherly love beyond the confines.of class and ..denomination; (2) to inspire 'unselfish service .in and through its members. .
