BRITISH SAILORS' SOCIETY

Another delightful concert was held at the rooms of the British Sailors' Society on Thursday, the rooms being filled. The programme was arranged by the Pononga Tennis Club of Petone, and was thoroughly enjoyed^ by the large audience. The party was introduced by the society's Port Missioner, Mr. N. S. Slyfield. Supper was served during the interval. A vote of thanks was carried with acclamation and cheers by the men present. The chairman for the evening, Mr. Ray Usmar, replied, saying that the party would be delighted to respond whenever the society required them. Two of the outstanding items were the "Oratorio" by the company and the iarcical sketch entitled "The Obstructive Hat," the latter causing a great deal of amusement. Items were contributed by Misues E. Birrell, G. Usmar, E. M'Leod, Ldmas, Walker, N. Walker, and Huggins, Messrs. A. Leibezeit and R. Usmar. On Wednesday the usual midweek social evening was held, a large number of men being present. Songs, games, and instrumental items were indulged in. Supper was served by the young ladies of the society.
