"THE MESSIAH."

The musical event of the month is The Royal Wellington Choral Union's performance of "The Messiah,", which is to take place in the Town Hall on Saturday evening. The cast which has been assembled is probably the strongest obtainable at present in New Zealand or Australia. Placing Mr. Hubert Carter, the tenor, on a pedestal apart, and coming to the other principals, we have Mi«s Naomi Whalley, a Palmerston North lady, who Mr. Arthur Jordan a few months ago Regarded as the finest soprano he had heard in New Zealand; Miss Mina Caldow is to-day the foremosj; contralto in concert and oni torio work in New Zealand and Australia; and Mr. Win. Waiters, who is well known to Wellington audiences for his finished work. The presence of so eminent and cultured an artist as Mr. Hubert Carter creates a vocal tour de force, which should prove irresistible to all lovars of music of the highest class. The box plan opens at The Bristol at d to-morrow morning.
