MAN DROWNED
FAILURE TO FORD RIVER.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) TAUMARUNUI, This Day. Thomas M'Henna, a single' man, aged 30 years, was drowned in the Wanganui River this morning. He was riding in a dray, pulled by three horses, and driven and owned by W. W. Webster, across the river to view the metal deposits on the opposite side, preparatory to working them to-morrow. The horses got into deep water, and wero drowned. . '" Webster and M'Kenna struck ont for tho shore. The former landed in an exhausted condition, but M'Kenna suddenly disappeared when he appeared to be swimming strongly. The body has not yet .been recovered. Webster values the horses at __100.
