Daniel o'Council was born in 1775* aud died in 1847. He was one of the greatest orators of Ireland, and was the leader of the movement for the repeal of the Union between Great Britain and Ireland, and on tho passing of th# Catholic Emancipation Act in 1829, _■$ in ths House of Commons as the membef for Clare. His career in Parliament did not come up to tho expectations of hie friends, although ho will always be known as a great Commoner.
