DRAMATIC RECITAL

PUPILS OF MR. CULFORD BELL.

Well up to standard ■ and showing, evidence of careful training, the annual dramatic recital given by the .pupils of Mr. Culford Bell in the Concert Chamber oh Saturday night was attended by a large and appreciative audience. A delightful presentation was the children's play, "Princess Tenderhcart," in which .the parts wero taken by Pat Kerr, Marjorie Hill, Nathaliue Pollock, Ken Mabin, Joyce Graham, Joan Sowman, and Hugh Janson, all of whom wore appropriate and artistic dresses. There was no lack of humour in the humorous piece, "Parsimonia," which was enacted by Lily Charles, Doresn Saunders, Jeane Coker, Marjorie Hill, Acnes Darrell,, Nellie Burnn, and Hugh Janson, a pleasing feature being a well-rendered song by Lily Charles in the part of King Richard. Another play which received much merited applause was entitled "A Joke," the performers being Miss Joyce Jordan, *_ita Rowe, Sheila Franklin, and Gracie Kerr. There were numerous other items, all of which showed distinct merit. Outstanding performers were Mr. John Watchman; Shakespearian selection, Miss Gracie Kerr; Dickens sketch in character, Mr. Eric North; humorous recitation, Miss Isa Saunders, in "The Yukon Trail," and Mrs. Daisy Cooper, in "The House With Nobody In It." Others who did well were Misses . Lyndal, Anderson, Areta Wharton, Gladys Gunn, Fea Smyth, Kirk, Zena Jupp, and Mrs. Frances Norris.
