CRANE-DRIVERS RESUME

CONCESSIONS ON BOTH SIDES,

(Received 3rd December, 11 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. A conf ereuce of the Newcastle cranedrivers and Mr. Baddeley (Minister.of Labour) arrived at a settlement of the strike, and tho men will resume work to-morrow. A mass meeting of the Newcastle crane-drivers ratified the terms of settlement agreed upon at the conference with the Minister. The terms indicate that both sides made concessions in order to bring about peace. The men will share alike a rate of wages which is a reduction on the present award rates. Shifts will be arranged so as to give all crane-drivers an equal amount of work. When, however, tho "no overtime strike" is settled tho agreement becomes inoperative, and the crane-drivers return to the : conditions existing before the strike.

As tho result of the "no overtime strike" steamers. continue to be held up at the various ports. The Marama, which, according to schedule, should sail at 3 o'clock to-day for Auckland will not get away till 4.30 in order that the cargo may be shipped.
