TROTTING NOTES

(By "Vedette.")

TROTT-NO FIXTURES.

December 4—Waikato T.C. December 8, ll—Wellington T.C. December 16, 18—New Brighton T.C.

Acceptances for the Wellington Trotting Club's Meeting are due to-night with the secretary, Mr. R. W. Short, Petone, at 8 o'clock. Nominations for the Northland Trotting Club's Annual Meeting, to be held at Whangarei on Sth January, close with the secretary, Whangarei, or with Mr. C. F. Mark, Auckland Trotting Club, Auckland, next Friday, 10th December, at 5 p.m. . 4 - ' The higher class events to be contested at the Hutt Park next week have drawn the very beet of New Zealand's trotters and pacers, and on the second day the contest in the Champion Stakes .three seconds limit) should be a treat to witness. It will be interesting to see how Mr. Brinkman places such sterling performers as Great Bingen, Prince Pointer, Waitaki Girl, Imprint, and Onyx, over a mile and a half course. While these horses have previously met over mile and a quarter and two-mile courses they have not contested the middle-distance together. With Logan Chief, Native Chief, and Acron to make up the field, trotting enthusiasts are promised a most exciting spectacle. Most of the horses named will meet in the fast mile and a quarter on the first day. The handicap for the principal event the first day, the New Zealand Trotting Gold Cup, has been carefully compiled, and if it can be faulted it may be in leaving Tom Thumb on the limit with Master Councillor and Jewel Pointer. Tom Thumb has shown himself to be a fair class performer; and it was stated recently that a substantial offer from a would-be buyer was refused. The presence of the two other horses named, however, made it difficult for the handicapper, as neither had shown public form to entitle 'them to be in the event. A visit to the course at the Hutt Park discloses the fact that the private caretaker appointed by the club has not been idle. The racing. and training tracks are in perfect condition, and the grounds generally have been greatly improved.
