STRAND THEATRE.
John Barrymore will be seen in "The Sea Beast," which commenced at the Strand Theatre to-day, and his brother Lionel is the star of "The Bells," Sir Henry Irving's masterpiece, which will be shown at the day sessions only. "The Sea Beast," the spectacular Warner picture, starring John Barrymore, ranks among the few truly great photoplays ever filmed. John Barrymore gives a thrillingly perfect and powerfully moving performance in the role of Ahab Ceeley, a harl pooner of the days of 1840, when the whaling industry supplied adventure for young men who followed the sea. This picture is based on "Moby Dick," written by Herman Melville, and adapted to the screen by Bess Meredyth. Dolores Costelio gives a finely finished performance as the girl whom both brothers love, and George O'Hara as the younger brother, whose jealousy almost_ ruins the life of Ahab, is vividly convincing. The story of "The Bells,-" as is well known to everyone, treats with the soul-stirring remorse of a conscience-stricken murderer. Among those in the important parts are Edward Phillips, Lola Todd, Caroline trances Cooke, Lorimer Johnston, and Laura Lavarine. "The Bells" is being shown at the day sessions only.
