INTO THE HARBOUR

MOTOE-CAR AND ITS OWNEE.

(By Telegraph.)

(Special to "The Evening Post.")

AUCKLAND, This Day.

A motor-car and its owner and driver, Mr. W. S. H. Einger, of Hamilton, fell into the Auckland Harbour shortly before mK^night on Sunday. The accident occurred near Winstone's Wharf, after Mr. Kmger had driven a friend to the steamer Herekino, which was berthed there. When the car was being turned before leaving, it backed down a steep incline used for hauling dinghies on to the wharf, and tho car and driver were precipitated into the water. The car sank to the bottom of the harbour. Mr. Einger had to break a side-curtain to get out of the car, and then swam ashore. The car was lifted out of tho water yesterday morning by tho Harbour Board's transport crane. It was undamaged, and was later driven away by Mr. Singer.
