"Stamp collecting teaches a little history and geography. Card collecting teaches all that and a thousand other things. If you knew by heart the backs of all the cards that have been issued in the last thirty years you might not be the best-educated man in. your village, but you would be the most widely informed man in the world, and, in almost every case, correctly informed."
