MEETING OF BOABD OF GOVEBNOES.

The monthly meeting of the Wellington College BoaTd of Governors was held yesterday afternoon, Mr. W. H. Barber presiding. The acting-headmaster (Mr. A. C. Gifford) stated iri his monthly report that there were 836 boys on the roll; 10 boys had left since the last report, and' two had been enrolled. The average attendance was 95.5 per cent., the number of boarders was 88, including eight day boarders. The special prize examinations had been completed, and the results, with recommendations for the award of scholarships, would be forwarded to the board early next month. Senior free places had been granted to 187 boys on the recommendation of the principal. The annual cricket match with Wanganui College had been fixed for 18th December. Work on the Memorial Hall was proceeding rapidly, and the walls had reached a height of about 30ft. The headmistress of the Wellington Girls' College (Miss V. M. Greig) reported that the number on the roll on 19th November was 504, the percentage of attendance during the four weeks ending on that date being 94.2. A number of girls were' away owing to epidemics. Miss B. Jackson, M.A., of the college, was recommended to fill the position in grade B rendered vacant by the resignation of Mrs. Wood.
