Atmospheric pressure was increased during the week-end, but is still low to the eastward. Heavy rain fell in AVellington on Saturday, and 1.49 inches was recorded yesterday morning, which makes the third heaviest fall for the year. On 13th August last year the rainfall was 1.49 inches, and since then there have only been two heavier falls. Tho weather has been cold, boisterous, and showery, and intermittently snow fell on the higher levels in the south yesterday. Southerly winds, strong to gale, have prevailed. The foreenst issued to-day is for southerly winds, strong to gale at limes northward of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura, and moderate to strong elsewhere. The .barometer is due to rise everywhere, with cold and'changeable weather, and showery conditions in the northern and cast coast districts. The night will probably be very cold, but there are indications that the weather will improve. Only three points of rain fell in Wellington yesterday. The total.for the month is 4.78 inches, which is "1.33 inches'over the average for the month of November.
