- -■■'-■ NELSON, 27th November. The. annual.Show opened at Richmond Park on Friday. There was a' very good attendance, and an excellent exhibition ofystock. Mr. H. S. Kyle, M.P., Christchurch, was the judge of both light and draught horses, Mr. J. Webb, Taihape, »n_ Mr. N. P. Nielsen, judged the sheep, and Mr. W. H. Booth the Jersey cattle. Mr. E. Smallbone, of Arthungworth, Richmond, took the first, second, third »nd fourth prizes for Jersey cows calved prior to 30th June, 1923, for which there were eleven entrants. Mr. T. Newman, Biightwater, won the most prizes for fat .h«ep and lambi. There was a good ehowing of pigs, domestic classes,*'farm »nd garden produce, and poultry were well filled, and there "was also a fine exhibition ©f;;primary school work. Saturday was people's day. The attendance was'much large, than on Friday, but the weather .-J* not nearly so good. The sky became ovjercast, showers fell throughout the afternoon, affecting the attendance considerably.. There were more side shows than u«ial, and more motor-cycle and athletic events. Councillor Berryman, of the Motupiko Tiding of the Waimea County Council, has giyieh notice that he will move at the next meeting to revoke all special orders declaring main roads within the Motupiko arid ,Wangapeka ridings. Councillor E. Bjj Jones, of the Wangapeka riding, intends to oppose the motion. /-jTakaka has riow an additional daily mail, «kd letters posted at Takaka by noon will csc_ the steamer to Wellington the same eyj;ning. ''A. social gathering was held at the Baptiit schoolroom on Thursday evening to Welcome g'astor J. C. Macky, who has taken over the pastorate of the Baptist Church.
