LIFE-SAVING
/EASON OPENED AT WORSER BAY.
Despite the bad weather, a large number of members of the Worser Bay Surf an 3 Life-saving Club met at the clubrooms, Worser Bay, on Saturday afternoon, when the Hon. R. A. Wright, Minister of. Education, was present to declare the season open. The Minister, who was received by,: Mr. J. Lynam, president, said . that the club had an ideal beach at its disposal, and with the gradual increase of the population of the district; its membership should soon be enlarged. He wished the club success and prosperity in the ensuing season, and expressed the hope that members might have many fino Saturdays on which to practise and become efficient at their work. Mr. Lynam said how grateful the club was to Mr. Wright for the interest that he had always shown in its' welfare. Last season had not been a very successful one from -the financial standpoint, but he urged members to keep up their enthusiasm and workhard to make this year _ activities as successful' as possible. The death Of Mr. M. L. Silva, who was a very active member of the club for many years, was referred to, and members were asked to stand in silence for a brief interval in respect to his memory. A swimming race over a 50yds course wag held during the afternoon, and was won by A. Hepburn, V. L. Allen was second, and L. G. Grimston was third.
