MARIST DEFEAT DIAMONDS.
Playing at Association Park, defeated Diamonds by one goal. From tho beginning it was very apparent that anything in the nature of scientific play was quite impossible, as a high wind that swept the ground made control of the -ball difficult. Both sides were aggressive m turn, and both lost chances of scoring. For a while Marist had Diamonds hemmed down in their half, but opportunities were lost. An attack by Diamonds saw M'Leod make a shot, but Fitzgerald cleared, though ho did so shakily. Although Marist continued to have the best of the game, they could not score. In the second half, Diamonds showed to better advantage. Cutler, the Diamonds goalie, was called on to a great extent, and on each occasion did his work well. Towards the end of tho spell Marist made a bid to score, and a movement commenced by M'El-igotfc was successful when Marshment scored. Diamonds tried hard to wipe off the deficit, but the Marist defence lasted out, and the game ended: Marist 1, Diamonds 0. Mr. E. Watts was the referee.
