THE LABOUR MARKET

LANG GOVERNMENT WATCHING

MIGRATION.

(United Pross Association.—Copyright.) (Received 29th July, 10 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. In a definite statement outlining the policy of the Government in regard to migration, the Minister of Labour and Industry (Mr. J. M. Baddoley) said that, while employment conditions for local residents in industries were unfavourable, it would not be the policy of the Government to aggravate the position by granting assisted passages to workers in those industries from overseas. The Government would not interfere with the migration of close relatives, and nominations in this regard would still be accepted. Group nominations would be the subject of the closest scrutiny owing to the fact of the difficulty being experienced by nominators in placing their nominees in employment after arrival.
