GIFTS OF SPARE CLOTHING

A SUCCESSFUL APPEAL. (By Telegraph.) (Special to the "Evening Post.") AUCKLAND, This Day. Many poor families in Auckland will benefit from the kindly action of the parents and pupils at the public schools iv the city and suburbs in enabling their children to respond to an appeal made recently by the Headmasters' Association for clothes and footwear for distribution by social workers among the needy. The campaign was suggested by Mr. F. H. Brown, headmaster of the Mount Eden District School, and was approved by the Education Board. An idea of the excellent response made was gained at the Drill Hall, when all the garments aad other offerings were pooled. A. great mountain of clothes and footv. *»r resulted. After being overhauled and disinfected, the clothing was divided, ready for delivery to prominent social workers. One school contributed over 100 large parcels of various articles of apparel. "It was a great thought," Baid Sister Esther, "The headmasters worked for about three weeks to get the campaign ready. I have received a big vanload of stuff, and I understand more is to come. "We were all wanting children's clothing, and that sent in was of such good qualitj'. The campaign has given us all great help."
