"MARRY—AND GO"
"Girls and women who marry will be required to relinquish their positions on the staff." This rule has been made by Barclay's Bank, Ltd., as a condition of a now pensions scheme for women employees, reports the "Newcastle Weekly Chronicle." The girl who chooßes marriage will receive a gratuity equal to 5 per cent, of her annual salary for every completed year of service. The ruling, "Girls must go if they marry," has, it is stated, particularly become the settled policy of leading banks. "Cases are numerous of girls having married men employed in the same bank," said an official. "It is not surprising that the many social opportunities enjoyed by bank staffs should lead to love matches, but for various reasons it is undesirable that wives should continue their business careers."
