GROSS NEGLIGENCE
TRIAL OF MOTOR DEIVEE.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, 28th July. In a reckless driving charge in the Supremo Court against George Vincent, arising out of injury to Mrs. Beatrice Pomeroy, who was knocked down by the accused's car on 3rd April, Mr. Moody, after the 'evidence of .two eyewitnesses had been given, said it vu useless to persist on the prisoner's behalf, and with the Court's consent the plea of not guilty was withdrawn. The Judge observed that he had never heard of a more gross incident of n«gligence. The only thing in mitigation was that the accused was under the influence of liquor. It wai a miracle the woman was not killed. The driver should not be allowed on the road. He was remanded until Monday for sentence.
