KHANDALLAH AFFAIRS
ANNUAL MEETING OF ASSOCIATION.
The annual general meeting of the Khandallah Progressive Association was held in the Khandallah Town Hall,. Mr. M. S. Galloway presiding over an attendance of about fifty residents. The annual report and balance-sheet were considered very satisfactory, and were unanimously adopted. The president gave an address on the work of the committee for the year. ■ _ ; On the motion of Mr. Compton-Smith, it was decided to obtain a supply of small sketch maps showing all streets and roads in the district, with their new names, the maps to be distributed to members of the association. The question of a fire brigade station for Khandallah was discussed, and the incoming committe was instructed' to go fully into the matter. A discussion took place on the subject of a more direct road from Wellington to Khandallah. The incoming committee was requested to make a thorough inquiry into the matter. Mr. Compton-Smith stated that he. thought a survey plan of a new road to Johnsonville from Khandallah was in existence, but he could not pay who held it; the plan was made by Mr. O'Donnel. It was decided to find the plan if possible, with a view to further action being taken. On the motion of Mr. Bevin, seconded by Mr.. Galloway, it was unanimously decided to ascertain if Mr. J. N. Wallace would consent to nomination for the present vacancy on the City Council. A vote of thanks to the Mayor, the officers of the City Council, the Railway authorities, and the Bell Bus Company for their unfailing courtesy to the association was unanimously carried. On the motion of Mr. Clinkard, a vote of thanks was passed to the executive committee for the excellent work perlormed during the past year. The election of officers resulted:—President, Mr. M. S. Galloway; vice-president, Mr. F. J. Brooker; hon. secretary, Mr. J. G. Rule; hon. treasurer, Mr. A. L. Chapman; executive committee, Messrs. K. G. C. Ketch, H. E. Heap, E. F. Amoore, F. fc. Bailey, and .)'. Bevin; hon. auditor, Mr. W. C. Stephens, F.P.A., N.Z.
