BANK OFFICER HONOURED
A complimentary dinner was tended last night to Mr. Robert Moffat, by the Te Aro branch of the National Bank of New Zealand. Mr. Moffat has been promoted from the position of manager of this branch to that o£ inspector in the general manager's department. The Hon. R. A. Wright (Minister o£ Education) presided over the gathering, and proposed the toast of the guest of the evening. Mr. Moffat, remarked Mr. Wright, was one of those gentlemen who had succeeded in New Zealand by their merit, honesty, and diligence. Twentyseven years ago Mr. Moffat joined the National Bank in Milton, and in 1920 he was appointed to the managership of the Milton branch, two years later being promoted to the position he had just relinquished. By his most recent promotion he was appointed to the branch inspectorship. Messrs. L. Dwan, T. Forsyth, Hope Gibbons, and W. J. Gaudin, also spoke in support of the toaat. A presentation of a cabinet gramophone, a travelling bag, and a rug having been made, Mr. Moffat returned thanks for all the kind remarks made about him; he regarded them, he said, largely as an expression of goodwill towards the inntitution to which he belonged.
