TO-MORROW'S SOCCER GAME
AUCKLAND v. WELLINGTON.
The twenty-fourth meeting of Auckland and Wellington takes place on the Basin Reserve to-morrow afternoon. Of ths 23 games played, the Northern Association has won 14, lost 8, and drawn 1, Bcoring 49 goals to 36. Last year the representatives of the Empire City defeated their rivals by 6 goals to 1. The Auckland team are very keen to avenge this reverse, and are confident of their abiilty to do so. The team selected to represent the Queen City is stated to be the finest that ever worn the blue and white colours. In it are four New Zealand representatives (Jones, Daere, Innes, and Kissick), and the remaining members of the team are of equal calibre. The Wellington team includes New Zealand representatives in Ballard, M'Elligott, . M'Girr, Thomas, Lothian, and Daniel, and is in rare condition as the result of consistent training. This will be the first match for the new Football Association Trophy The rules of the competition provide that in the event of a draw extra time must be played. The kick-off will therefore be at 2.45 p.m. sharp. His Excellency the Governor-General (Sir Charles Fergusson) and a party from Government House will attend. Other distinguished visitors will include the Chief Justice (His Ho .'our Mr. Justice Skerrett), and Miss Skerrett, the Speaker of the House of Representatives (the Hon. C. E. S.tatham), the Leader of the Opposition (Mr. 11. E. Holland), and other members of Parliament.
Owing to the mishap to the "Limited"^ express, members of the Auckland team will not arrive in Welington until this evening.
