TRAIN DERAILED

ACCIDENT ON NEW LINE

FIREMAN SERIOUSLY HURT.

The first serious' accident of any > kind on the Pukehuia-Waiotira section '■ of the North Auckland Main Trunk railway system, still under' the 'control , of the Public Works.Department,;.occurred near Omana. 'to-day, when an engine and some Isrucks ; wer-e .derailed and - a locomotive fireman, .named,,' C. Moore was so seriously^ injiired..that he had to be taken- to ; the hospital at Whangarci.. ,/.Y;Y: V -. The ...weather': Was been, very wet "ifor the past three days. .This caused the filling at the approach to, a bridge, to subside. The defect was not noticed till -the train was right on;to it,,with the result that the. engine left the. rails : and the following."trucks were telescop"ed upon it.
