MANAWATU DRAW WITH INDIAN
ARMY TEAM
The victorious tour of the Indian Army, hockey team received a setback yesterday afternoon at the Palmerston North Showground, when a Manawatu eleven played a drawn game with the visitors* giving a magnificent exhibition. At half-time the score read: Manawatu 3, India 0, but in the second spell the visitoni piled on three goals in quick succession, all from the stick of their wonderful centreforward, Dhian Chand. In the concluding stages of the game the home team recovered their form, but although they again took the lead when Ghulani Ali,_ the Army custodian, fell in effecting a 'clearance, the visitors drew level just as the final whistle blew, Sangara Singli netting. Scorers for Manawatu were Anderson (2), Lundy, and Simmonds. The game, which was witnessed by about seven . thousand people, was played on a ground rather heavy after recent rain.
