HUTT HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY

Tho. annual; meeting, of the Hutt Valley Horticultural .Society, was hold last evening-, ami was presided over by tho president, Mr. L. T. "VVatkius. . The balance-sheet presented by the treasurer-, Mr. Poole, s'tatod that during the yenr tlio society received a bequest of £100 from, tho estate of. the. late Mr. F. R. Cooper. Tlio society was enabled to invest £200 in Lower Hutt Borough- Council debentures. Tho amount spent in cash prizes wasi £145. 7s Sd, in addition to trophies, medals, and certificates. This amount is- probably a record for tho. Dominion., The report regrets the loss; by death of Mrs. Mitchell and Messrs. H.. J. Baumber and1 W. G. Hughes. A forecast of tho forniation of a Hutt Borough Rosery is made. It was decided to iiiYost. the donation from, the estate of tho, late Mr. F. R. Cooper to provide a. perpetual, memorial to Mr. Cooper, -who.- had done so much iii the cause of horticulture tho annual interest providing a trophy- for the exhibitor staging- the most meritorious exhibit.
