COMPENSATION CLAIMS
AWARD TO A WIDOW.

AUCKLAND, This Day
In the Supreme Court, Mr. Justice Stringer gave judgment in an action by the Public Trustee in a deceased estate against the Waihi Gold Mining Company, claiming damages account of the death of William Henifr Angell, killed by the accidental fall of a beam from the roof of v smithy in which he was accustomed to work. Judgment was given for £1250, of which £450 is to go to the widow, the remainder to be held by the plaintiff. In tho case W. N. Chamberlain against the Minister of Public Works, claiming £2370 damages, alleged to have been caused to plaintiff's property by the Ohincmuri Biver improvement works, the Court held that the claim must fail, but the parties arc to pay their own costs.
